Good to know
A few things that help your stay go smoothly.
- Community amenity badges
- Pool, beach and court access in Bear Creek Lakes requires the community badges. Ten are provided with your stay. The heated pool is seasonal.
- Lake Association rules
- The home is in a managed lake community with its own rules, including quiet hours, vehicle and bicycle rules, and ID bracelets. Security patrols the community. The hosts’ own house rules are separate and simple. Bear Creek Lakes Civic Association ↗
- Shared facilities, not on the lot
- The lake, beaches, pool and courts are shared community facilities, not on the property itself.
- Sleeping limits
- Up to 9 guests, with a maximum of 7 adults because of the sleeping arrangements.
- Pets
- Up to 2 pets, 50 lb maximum each.
- Check-in & check-out
- Check-in is at 4:00 PM and check-out is at 11:00 AM.
- Parking in downtown Jim Thorpe
- Parking downtown is tricky. The main option is the Carbon County lot by the train station, which has the only accessible spaces. Broadway street parking is paid with a 5-hour limit, and weekend rates are higher. On busy fall foliage weekends, arrive early or use a park-and-ride shuttle. Parking at the house is free. Jim Thorpe parking guide ↗
- Penn Forest Township Park
- The park’s courts and fields are open to the public, but scheduled games take priority. Pavilions are first-come, first-served for township residents, so a pavilion isn’t guaranteed for visitors. Residents get priority over non-residents for events, and field and event reservations require an application. Park rules and applications ↗
- Toiletries provided
- Linens, towels, shampoo, conditioner and body wash are all provided.
- Smart TVs, your own streaming
- Roku smart TVs are in all bedrooms and over the fireplace in the main room. Log in to your own streaming services and you’ll be logged out automatically at the end of your stay.
- Filtered well water
- The home runs on well water with a whole-home 3-stage filtration system.
- Easy gas fireplace
- The living room fireplace is gas and works with a remote control. No wood or fuss.
- Fast Wi-Fi
- 500 Mbps internet, good for streaming and working remotely.
- No smoking or vaping indoors
- Smoking and vaping are not permitted inside the house. Both are permitted outside.
- Accessible entry
- A ramp on the front porch makes entry easy for guests with mobility needs. The downstairs bedroom and bathroom with a walk-in shower, bench and grab bar are on the entry level.
- Travel insurance
- The hosts strongly recommend travel insurance, since cancellation terms are set by the booking platform.

“Not a commercial Airbnb type vibe (you know the type, looks great in pictures but only has one fork and the furniture is made of cardboard). Felt very homey, comfy beds, well stocked kitchen. Great yard, great water pressure, fantastic hvac.”
